Mission Statement

BCA's mission is to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS and eliminate health disparities in San Francisco’s African American community. Now in its 25th year, BCA provides health information, health education and health support services targeting Black people and underserved communities disproportionately affected by a range of diseases when compared to other segments of the City’s population. These services include, but are not limited to, health education, health case management, transitional housing, advocacy and other health-promoting activities. Three of BCA’s strategic goals are to 1) provide culturally competent health support services, 2) link clients and participants to local health care facilities, and 3) continue to support those referred to health care providers within BCA’s referral network.

Description

Founded in 1986, the Black Coalition on AIDS, Inc. (BCA), is one of the oldest organizations in the nation dedicated to advocacy, education, and harm reduction of HIV/AIDS in African American people. Over the past eight years, BCA has steadily expanded its service menu to include health and wellness services. BCA's expansion of services was a natural progression in response to a growing number of HIV/AIDS clients developing co-morbidities, such as diabetes, kidney and liver disease, high blood pressure, and mental illness.
