Whether you have a little time or a lot of time, you can make a HUGE impact. Are you a mover and shaker within your community? Are you a people person? Are you involved in group that has coffee together, plays golf, pickleball or tennis together, sews together, hikes, walks, runs or bikes together, or another activity based group? If you said yes to any of these questions, YOU are who we are looking for. Be a part of our fun and creative volunteer committee that focuses on finding and recruiting participants for one of the Alzheimer’s Association’s signature campaigns, The Longest Day. The Longest Day is the day with the most light - the summer solstice. On this day, we recognize the thousands of participants from across the world that have come together to fight the darkness of Alzheimer's through an activity of their choice. Together, they use their creativity and passion to raise funds and awareness for the care, support, advocacy and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association. This Do-It-Yourself fundraising and awareness campaign encourages participants to take what they enjoy doing and turn it into a The Longest Day activity-- how they want, when they want and where they want. Participants throughout Indiana have raised funds and awareness by playing cards, biking, baking, playing pickleball, golfing, running, live streaming, doing yoga, hosting a car show, having a backyard BBQ and the list goes on. It’s fun! It’s creative! And, it’s growing! Be a part of the new participant volunteer team. Identify and recruit The Longest Day participants from where you work, live, play and/or even worship. Be a part of our Global Team recruitment. Global Teams are locations, clubs, etc. that are a part of a national company, club or organization that has partnered with the Alzheimer’s Association, The Longest Day campaign, from a national level but needs us to recruit and spread the word on the local level, across the state. A list of global teams, scripts, etc. will be provided. Or, be a part of an affinity recruitment team. Do you have a passion or hobby like hiking, biking, running, playing pickleball, etc. where your knowledge or connections could make an impact on recruiting new participants? Help us grow this campaign as we work together to #ENDALZ.

Join The Longest Day Committee! The Alzheimer's Association is fighting to end Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research, by providing care and support for all affected, and reducing the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. Over 24,000 people in Rhode Island are facing Alzheimer's disease. We are looking for dedicated volunteers who are ready to help end Alzheimer's and all other dementia. What is The Longest Day? The Longest Day (or TLD) is a do-it-yourself fundraiser on the longest day of the year, the summer solstice. Together, we all come together to fight the darkness of Alzheimer's through a fundraising activity of our own choosing. In the Rhode Island chapter, our fundraisers host their own events such as a yoga fundraiser, hiking, board game nights with family, a neighborhood cookout, walking a marathon, you name it! How can I help? Join the committee! We are looking for volunteers who are dedicated and want to help us grow and expand The Longest Day in Rhode Island. This happens through recruitment, engagement and using your own connections and experiences to spread the word. The responsibilities of the committee member are mandatory monthly meetings (zoom), approximately 2-4 hours in addition per month working on tasks identified during the monthly meeting, being an advocate for the Alzheimer's Association mission with a 360 degree view, and helping to grow our TLD community through recruitment of new participants and volunteers. I do want to emphasize the time commitment. We really need dedicated and consistent volunteers on our committee so we can keep up with the great momentum to bringing TLD all across Rhode Island! How can I help in Rhode Island? We are so fortunate to have Rhode Island as a community with so much potential. Whether you work for a company who is interested in doing their own TLD fundraiser, or you have connections to other major businesses in the area, or you're just passionate about the cause - all of these equally as important and helpful to growing our TLD event. I'd love to have you on our committee! Where can I learn more? Check out our website at alz.org/thelongestday and also reach out to me, Megan! My email is mcoughlin@alz.org or give me a call at 401-859-2263. I am looking for dedicated volunteers to join The Longest Day committee (a year round campaign) and help us grow across RI and if this sounds like you, let's connect!
