Mission Statement
NYC Health + Hospitals Sexual Assault Treatment Program (SATP) is a hospital-based sexual assault treatment program in the Bronx, whose mission is to provide a comprehensive continuum of care to survivors of sexual assault and intimate partner violence. The focus of SATP is to respond to adolescent and adult rape victims in the Bronx community who need access to treatment in a setting that integrates medical and forensic care, mental health support, rape crisis advocacy, personal and criminal advocacy, forensic accompaniment, and coordination with law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies.
Description
Founded in 1998, the Sexual Assault Treatment Program (SATP) provides services to survivors of sexual violence, including Rape Crisis Advocacy, post-hospital follow-up, and community outreach. We provide a 40 hour Department of Health training to prepare Volunteer Advocates to respond to the emergency rooms at North Central Bronx Hospital and Jacobi Medical Center. Advocates are essential in ensuring survivors feel safe and emotionally supported while seeking treatment. The program offers Advocates ongoing support and continuing education.
