Mission Statement

The Art League of Long Island is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to broad-based visual arts education, providing a forum and showcase for artists of all ages and ability levels. Since its inception in 1955, the mission has focused on enhancing Long Island’s cultural life by promoting the appreciation, practice and enjoyment of the visual arts.

Description

The Art League’s growing membership welcomes all artists, individuals and businesses who enjoy art and fine crafts, as well as those who believe in the inestimable worth of the arts in our region.

In addition to the year-round course offerings, the Art League offers specialized programs to address distinct needs. Beyond the Classroom programs for local schools bring the Art League’s teaching/practicing artists into classrooms, or through on-site class field trips in the Art League’s studios. In addition, Professional Development Programs for Art Educators offer CTLE credits, whether in the Art League studios or at in-school locations. Outreach efforts have inspired creativity and the sense of well-being it creates in communities encompassing senior citizens, at-risk teens, traumatic brain injury victims, or those with developmental disabilities.
