SCHOOLS FOR SLOWING THE SPREAD INC

With the onset of SARS-CoV-2 spread throughout the United States, Higher Education systems recognized the serious threat posed to the health and well-being of their communities. Rapidly and decisively, schools around the country enacted protective and philanthropic measures to combat the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). These actions, such as shifting to online curricula, facilitating community-based volunteer groups, and supporting those in need via emergency funds, set a model example for the appropriate response to a pandemic.

As students, we want to help. We share the desire to support our communities and act responsibly in these unprecedented times. We recognize the need to do something, and that no matter how small, everyone has a role to play in the COVID-19 pandemic. Enter Schools for Slowing the Spread: a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is a student-run and serves as our vehicle for health literacy, humanitarianism, and social responsibility in this pandemic. In line with our mission, 100% of profits generated are donated to charitable organizations such as the CDP Covid-19 Response Fund, and supplying facemasks increases conscientiousness about social distancing, (not) touching one's face, and practicing good hygiene.
