Mission Statement
California Court Appointed Special Advocates Association ensures that children and youth in the foster care system have both a voice and the services they need for a stable future.
Description
A child needs someone they can look up to and someone to count on. Having a stable relationship with a supportive adult can help children who’ve experienced abuse and neglect do well, even when they have faced significant trauma and hardship.
To thrive, they need consistency and connectedness in their lives. A CASA volunteer, or Court Appointed Special Advocate is devoted to providing all of this to youth in foster care by helping one-on-one as a court advocate, mentor, role model, champion, friend, and beacon of hope.
California has 44 CASA programs serving 51 counties where 99% of the youth in foster care reside. Each program recruits and trains CASA volunteers in their community to ensure kids in foster care get the support and serviced they need and deserve.
