AHY is currently seeking to expand its Board of Directors. We are welcoming individuals interested in health and wellness and mind-body activities such as yoga and meditation. Experience or background in serving on a board of directors, fundraising, non-profit management, or public health is a plus. A Healthier You, Inc. (AHY) is a 501 (c)(3), an organization that provides holistic mind-body services to individuals and communities desiring to create a healthier version of themselves. The vision for AHY is for individuals to be healthy, emotionally, spiritually, financially, physically, mentally, and socially. Qualifications Passionate about our health and wellness Interested in healthy mind-body activities Open-minded and creative Possesses pro-active leadership skills Exceptional communication skills Team player with a vision for the future of a great organization Experience necessary Committed to serving for at least two years Board member expectations: AHY is looking for volunteers who are willing to devote their time, energy, and talents to help guide, direct, and work with AHY to achieve its mission. Each board member is expected to: Regularly attends board meetings and important related meetings. A Healthier You, Inc (AHY) regularly meets once a month for 1 hour. Makes serious commitment to participate actively in committee work. Help create and provide input on policies and procedures, budgets, and operations. Volunteers for and willingly accepts assignments and completes them thoroughly and on time. Stays informed about committee matters, prepares themselves well for meetings, and reviews and comments on minutes and reports. Gets to know other committee members and builds a collegial working relationship that contributes to consensus. Is an active participant in the committee's annual evaluation and planning efforts. Participates in fundraising for the organization. Efforts can include but are not limited to, planning, attendance, solicitation of donors, outreach, and marketing. Actively involve yourself in the agenda of the organization, by building relationships and acquitting business that will grow the mission.

Job Description: Attend all Board meetings and activities, including special events and Board retreats. Become knowledgeable about the organization. Come to Board meetings well-prepared and well-informed about issues on the agenda. Contribute to meetings by expressing your point of view. Consider other points of view, make constructive suggestions and help the Board make decisions that benefit those the organization serves. Represent organizations to individuals, the public and to other organizations. Support the organization through a meaningful personal financial gift. Assume Board leadership roles when asked. Keep the administrator informed about any concerns the community has. Establish policies. Hire and evaluate the administrator. Secure adequate funding for the organization. Make a meaningful financial contribution. Monitor finances. Create and update a long-range plan for the organization. Select and support the organization's Board officers and periodically review their performances. Adopt key operating policies and procedures; approve contracts as appropriate. Work with staff to submit a full and accurate financial statement to the Board. Review the organization's annual audit and answer any questions other Board members may have about it. Ensure that the Board's financial policies are being followed. Give regular reports to the Board as to the financial health of the organization. Assist in preparing the annual budget.
