Mission Statement

Give Girls A Chance (GGAC) supports girls and young women in Nigeria to access and maximize the benefits of a quality education through scholarships, capacity building of girls and schools and advocacy for girl-child education at the local, national and global level.

Description

To address the problem of low educational attainment for girls and reduce the inequalities in education in Nigeria, Give Girls A Chance is implementing a holistic and integrated solution built around 3 pillars: education, capacity-building and advocacy.

Over the past five years (2016-2021), GGAC has partnered with 5 public schools, recruited and trained 55 mentors, disbursed 195 scholarships, and mentored 245 primary and secondary school girls in Abuja and in Borno State. We have reached over 5,000 girls through our supplementary education programs including our Menstrual Hygiene Management, STEM program and after-school programs. We have also reached 200 Families through our Community Engagement Program.

90% of GGAC girls have successfully completed the program and advanced from primary to junior secondary school or from junior secondary to senior secondary school. GGAC girls report improved performance across all indicators tracked - attendance, grades in Math, Science, and English, and self-reported psychosocial well-being scores.
