Mission Statement
As a society, we generally address violence in one way: by reacting to it. We follow it on the news, discuss it at work, and listen to endless debates about policy--until the next incident occurs and the cycle starts over again. But there’s only one way to actually stop the cycle--we must prevent the violent behaviors that start it. Fortunately, this is not as impossible as it sounds. The Foundation for the Prevention of Violence (FPV) worked with retired F.B.I. profiler Greg Cooper to create programs, protocols, and assessments designed to increase school safety, reinforce workplace security, and teach both communities and individuals how to keep themselves and their loved ones safe. With these programs, we can do more than just react to violence--we can prevent it from happening in the first place.
Description
We are a violence prevention organization that has three main programs.
Deva School Security
We help keep schools safe by providing a 360 security layout, including a full risk assessment, optimized safety drills, staff training, and changes to curriculum.
Mage Fire Gaming
Our Mage Fire Gaming program is designed to identify and reform potential violent behaviors in adolescents-all through engaging, therapeutic tabletop games.
Self-Defense Training
We teach hand-to-hand defense along with behavioral profiling, criminology, and victimology to give you the tools you need to stay safe on a day-to-day basis.
