Mission Statement

The purpose of the Service Veterans of Northern California Volunteer Honor Guard is to augment the respective military service branches and assist in administering full and complete military honors to veterans who have served this country and are being interred at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery and surrounding cemeteries.

Description

The SVNC Volunteer Honor Guard is a congressionally recognized organization primarily serving the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon. We perform over 1,000 military honor services annually at no cost to the family of the deceased, regularly providing the three rifle-volley salute during the performance of military honors. Volunteers must be a minimum of 18 years old. Be persons of good character, maturity, and judgment. Be physically able to perform tasks that require standing, walking, and lifting light objects (10 lbs.) Successfully complete the selection process, orientation and training. Regularly commit to a minimum of two service days per month (M, T, Th, F) of their choice. Non-rifle team, administrative support positions are available.
