Bristol Hospice believes that for hospice patients in final stages of life, animals can provide a calming and comforting presence that might otherwise be absent. Would you and your pet enjoy providing companionship to hospice patients in Snohomish County? Together, you would meet our hospice patients where they live.The types of interaction may be joyful or very subdued, but we’re willing to bet it will include a fair bit of tail wagging! Volunteers do not provide any medical services, but do offer comfort and companionship to our patients, who can often feel rather isolated. We provide all necessary training to give you the tools and confidence to create meaningful moments with our patients. As a Bristol Hospice volunteer: you are assigned to patients in your own community you create visit schedules based on individual availability In addition to being adorable, all animals must be registered through an accepted therapy pet program. Bristol Hospice is seeking volunteers to provide companionship and support to patients and their families during the final stages of life. Our goal is to bring dignity and comfort by offering compassionate care to patients and their families, wherever a patient calls home. Some common volunteer visits might include Being a comforting and supportive visitor Providing companionship to a patient and their family Offering caregiver relief while family members are outside of the home Running errands Reading books, newspapers or magazines to the patient Playing games or doing puzzles Listening to music or watching TV Helping the patient write letters or emails Assisting with light household chores Engaging in leisure activities that the patient enjoys Preparing light meals Taking walks Just being present Volunteers do not provide any medical services, but are simply available for the purposes of companionship, errands or caregiver relief. This is a great opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life and serve your community. You have what it takes to make someone’s life better! We provide in-depth training so volunteers feel prepared to do this important work. With this instruction, and support from a network of fellow volunteers and staff, you can become a source of connection and joy in the lives of patients and their loved ones. Our patients are located throughout Snohomish County, in their homes and in care facilities. Description
Bristol Hospice provides hospice services to meet the physical, psycho-social, and spiritual needs of individuals at the end of life in Snohomish County, Washington. We focus on an individualized plan of care which may include, as appropriate, the following services: nursing, physicians, hospice aides, spiritual support, therapy, dietary, counseling, volunteers, durable medical equipment, supplies, bereavement services and medications related to the terminal illness.
