Virtual Opportunity
Are you looking to create an impact in your community by helping Women of Color career changers learn new tech skills? Currently, WOC only make up a small percentage of the tech community and we are looking to increase those numbers by teaching WOC advanced technology and leadership skills so they gain economic empowerment. We are looking for Technical Mentors to serve as Teaching Assistants during our 6-week online coding program for Women of Color looking to upskill their talents by learning the basics of HTML/CSS/JavaScript. During this workshop series, Technical Mentors will be able to sign up for weeks and days they'd be available on a rolling basis. Our next workshop runs from March to April 2022 If you’re technical with experience in programming or design, being a Technical Mentor is a really rewarding way to give back! This course is designed for students with little or no experience with React. As the instructor, you'll lead a 2-hour workshop using a pre-made intro to React curriculum. You'll also be supported by TAs who can help answer questions throughout the workshop as well.

During this workshop, learners will explore the two core languages that are used to build web pages: Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). Learners will be introduced to and explore basic HTML and CSS while also completing challenges and using the knowledge they will develop over the lessons to create their very own web design projects. They will be tasked with three debugging challenges allowing learners to apply their knowledge of HTML and CSS to identify and fix errors in code. As the instructor, you'll lead the workshop using a pre-made web design curriculum. You'll also be supported by TAs who can help answer questions throughout the workshop as well.
