INTRODUCTION Mi Casa Resource Center is seeking volunteers to help members of our community build their language skills in our English as a Second Language (ESL) course. English as a Second Language (ESL) is a twelve-week course designed to help non-native English speakers build the confidence and fluency they need to communicate effectively in academic, professional, and social settings. Classes are in-person, with one beginner-level section and one intermediate-level section offered concurrently. PROJECT DETAILS ESL Instructors work as a team with the help of Teaching Assistants to provide a mix of large-group instruction, small-group support, and one-on-one tutoring. All curriculum and materials are provided by the organization. Instructors are primarily responsible for delivering the daily lesson plan. Duties include mastering the curriculum and class materials, leading out on large-group instruction, and managing class progress throughout the duration of the course. SESSION & CLASS DETAILS Session - ESL Spring Session January 21, 2025-April 12, 2025 Tuesdays 5:30 PM to 7 PM Thursdays 5:30 PM to 7 PM Saturdays 10 AM to 12 PM QUALIFICATION & COMMITMENT DETAILS Teaching experience is preferred, and Instructors should be able to engage respectfully and warmly with adult students from a multicultural background. Spanish-language skills are highly useful. Classes are offered three times per week - Instructors will be asked to commit to serving at one class consistently per week for most weeks of the session. Notice can be given for travel or other planned commitments.

We are seeking passionate and dedicated volunteers to help lead a 13-week Digital Skills for Life Class designed to empower individuals with essential basic computer skills. Whether you are an experienced educator, tech enthusiast, or someone who simply enjoys helping others learn, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a positive impact in your community Role Responsibilities: Assist in teaching basic computer skills to participants with little to no experience. Help guide students through lessons on using computers, the internet, word processing, and email. Provide one-on-one support to students as needed. Foster a welcoming, patient, and encouraging classroom environment. Help with lesson preparations and classroom setup as needed. Collaborate with other volunteers and staff to ensure smooth class operations. Skills & Qualifications: A basic understanding of computers, internet, and Google suites Good communication skills and patience. A willingness to assist and work with diverse groups of learners. Previous teaching or tutoring experience is a plus but not required. Reliable and committed to the full duration of the program (13 weeks).

Digital Skills for Life is a 13-week course for adult learners that takes place in Mi Casa’s beautiful computer lab. The course aims to overcome barriers to digital inclusion by empowering our participants to gain basic computer and digital skills, which can aid them in their career and business journeys. PROJECT DETAILS Digital Skills for Life Instructors work as a team to deliver the weekly lesson plan. All curriculum and materials are provided by Mi Casa. Duties include mastering the curriculum and class materials, leading out on large-group instruction, and managing class progress throughout the duration of the course. SESSION DETAILS Wednesdays 5:30 to 7:30 PM Januray 29th to April 23 QUALIFICATION & COMMITMENT DETAILS Proficiency in core digital skills is needed, and experience with digital literacy tutoring is preferred. Instructors should be able to engage respectfully and warmly with adult students from a multicultural background. Spanish-language skills are required Classes are offered once per week for two hours. Instructors will be asked to commit to most weeks of the session. Notice can be given for travel or other planned commitments.

Mi Casa Resource Center needs tech-savvy volunteers to serve as tutors during Computer & digital Tutoring hours in our computer lab! Wednesdays 9:30 - 11:30 AM and Thursdays 5:00 - 7:00 PM Adult participants attend open computer labs to practice new technology skills, ask questions, study online, work towards digital certificates, apply for jobs, edit their cover letters and resumes, build their business plans, design small business strategies online, and more. Computer Lab Tutors are needed to assure that adult students receive the support they need to gain skills and confidence. The lab tutor will address any tech challenges and/or direct the adult to the appropriate Mi Casa staff member that may provide more specific supports. They ensure the computer lab is kept clean, organized and that the computers are in good working order for the participants' use. Qualifications: Must be able to assist participants with basic computer use technical support. It is also expected that the computer lab monitor will alert Mi Casa staff to any lab issues that should be addressed. Spanish skills are highly preferred.
