Are you looking to make a difference in your community? Hospice is a great way to give to back to those in a time of need. McLaren Hospice is seeking compassionate and dedicated volunteers to help support our families in their individual experiences through hospice, with a focus on patient pets. The Pet Piece of Mind program assists patients to help support there furry friends in need. Activities may include: Walking a Pet Feeding a Pet Transporting a Pet to the Vet Marketing for the Program Helping to look for appropriate families to rehome a pet These volunteers play a large role in allowing our patients to continue to enjoy there beloved animals, and ensure they are taken care of. These tasks may seem simple, but make a huge difference in the day-to-day activities of our hospice patients and their Fur families. Our office is located in Cheboygan, but we also serve patients in surrounding areas from the Eastern Upper Peninsula including the islands, to Indian River, Brutus, and more. McLaren Hospice is looking for dedicated Veterans who would like to make a difference in the lives of patients that are being faced with advanced illness. Training is provided and no medical experience is necessary. The Veteran Volunteer program aims to pair Veteran Volunteers with hospice patients that have been identified as Veterans. We are looking for veterans that may have shared experiences and a unique ability to identify with patients who are also veterans. Services may include: Friendly visits with patient and/or family Listening to patient reminisce, and company keeping for those who may not otherwise have it Reading to patient Respite support for caregiver by sitting with patient so that families may take a break Assisting with running errands, letter writing, and other needs Veterans Pinning and honoring Veterans Events assistance (Memorial Day/ Veterans Day, Ect.) Our office is located in Cheboygan, but we also serve patients in surrounding areas from the Eastern Upper Peninsula including the islands, to Indian River, Brutus, and more. McLaren Hospice is in search of individuals with therapy dogs who wish to share their talents with our patients. We would like to work with individuals or groups that could bring the benefits of therapy dogs to our patients. Pets required to be licensed therapy animals. Our office is located in Cheboygan, but we also serve patients in surrounding areas from the Eastern Upper Peninsula including the islands, to Indian River, Brutus, and more. Perspective volunteers will need to complete an interview and onboarding process, including our additional pet therapy education.
