Charlie's House is a non-profit organization (501(c)(3)) dedicated to increasing awareness and educating parents and caregivers, healthcare professionals and community organizations about common dangers that cause injuries and accidents to children in and around the home. Our mission is fulfilled through increased awareness, public education, and distribution of safety devices.

Charlie's House just opened the nation’s first Safety Demonstration Home, located here in Kansas City, Missouri, located in Hospital Hill, near University Health and Children's Mercy Hospital KC. The house serves as a resource for families seeking information on safety and injury prevention. Families learn about child proofing their home by going on a room-by-room tour of a typical home, including the nursery, bathroom, bedroom, family room, stairs, backyard/deck, kitchen, laundry room, garage, and driveway safety. Since opening in May 2021, we have given more than 500 tours! We are looking for potential tour guides who would be willing to help provide these tours. Each guided tour typically takes about 45 minutes.

We provide safety education on five main topics: home, water, fire, seasonal and vehicle safety. Our resource center is available to the public, and anyone is encouraged to pick up safety devices, safety educational materials and more - all at no cost.
