Mission Statement

Torrance Memorial Medical Center is a locally-governed, non-profit medical center whose purpose is to provide quality healthcare services, predominately to the residents of the South Bay/Peninsula communities. Under the governance of a community-based Board of Trustees, Torrance Memorial serves the public interest by: • Improving the community health within the scope and expertise of our resources. • Offering the most current and effective medical technologies rendered in a compassionate, caring manner. • Maintaining long-term stability in order to assure our strength and viability for the benefit of the community.

Description

Founded in 1983, Torrance Memorial's Hospice program is licensed by the State of California, Medicare and Medi-Cal certified, and accredited by the Joint Commission. We have received top honors in nursing excellence, receiving the distinction of Magnet Status. During the summer of 2021, Torrance Memorial once again received The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Hospital/Home Care/Hospice Accreditation by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards. The Gold Seal is a symbol of quality that reflects a health care organization’s commitment to providing safe and quality patient care.

Torrance Memorial Hospice has a thriving volunteer program providing companionship and respite patient visits and bereavement support to our families. We are proud to announce we recently started an End-of-Life Doula program helping support our families while their loved one is transitioning as well as being present when no family is available.
