Mission Statement

The Clark County AmeriCorps 4-H Grows Here Project seeks to improve students’ knowledge in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), diversity & inclusion, environmental & outdoor science, agriculture, healthy living, civic engagement, practical skills, and communicative & expressive arts. The goal of our program is to provide access to after-school enrichment programming and to assist youth to grow intellectually, develop leadership, and promote life skills that can be applicable to their daily experiences.

Description

The Clark County AmeriCorps 4-H Grows Here Project has AmeriCorps members working to improve academic engagement and social emotional skills in youth in Clark County. The program is aimed at youth ages 5-19, with an emphasis on first-generation, low-income and middle school-aged youth, and youth of color. AmeriCorps members are responsible for educating 3,000 youth through workshops each week. From there, the team will be responsible for transitioning at least 1,600 youth to longer-term 4-H club programs, consisting of at least six 1-hour sessions.
