Mission Statement

Food for His Children's mission is for individuals, families and communities to become all they were created to be. We seek to eradicate extreme poverty in East Africa through holistic community development and not just relief. We provide materially poor families a dairy goat along with veterinary support, agriculture and entrepreneurship training. Goats provide up to four liters of rich milk a day, which provides much-needed nutrition. Their manure also fertilizes crops which doubles the harvest. Eventually, families can sell goat milk and use that income to send children to school, build safe and structurally-sound homes, start independent businesses and pay for medical expenses. Our goal is to engage, equip and empower as many families as we can serve while offering spiritual sustenance through the Gospel.

Description

Since 2008, Food for His Children has provided holistic community development services to families and communities in rural Tanzania, targeting those with income below $1 per day. Our vision is to eradicate extreme poverty so that children and families have food to eat, medical care, education and the ability to work towards their dreams and that families and communities can become all God created them to be. We desire to see families and communities able to sustain themselves without relying on outside resources. We do this by providing a micro loan of a dairy goat, pastoral care, faith-based training in entrepreneurship, animal husbandry, agriculture, health, environment, leadership, and savings; one on one case management and coaching, goal planning, and veterinary care services. We have partnered with over 400 families, about 3000 people in 11 different villages. We also have over 900 goats in our program, Numbers are impressive, but we seek whole life transformation. The kind that doesn't happen overnight, sometimes it takes years and our mission is to walk with each family until they are able to walk on their own.
