Harbor Hospice is seeking volunteers in many different capacities. We are seeking volunteers that could make fidget blankets for our hospice patients with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia. There are many benefits of fidget blankets for patients, including keeping them calm during periods of anxiety or restlessness. A fidget blanket is a lap-size quilt that provides sensory stimulation for patients that are in need of a way to alleviate agitation and provide a sense of calmness. We have multiple opportunities to lend a helping hand here at Harbor Hospice. From singing or playing music to patients to reading books or drawing, we would love to have you join our team! We are in need of volunteers to help with activities at a small senior community in N Garland, Texas. This will be a fun opportunity where you may call a BINGO game, help with decorating cookies, lead a trivia session, host a tea party or just read with a few residents. Supplies will be provided so all we ask for is your time. We would like to have someone who is available one to two times a week at the same time, so the sweet residents get to know you and when you are coming. There will be no clinical / medical care, there are CNAs and nurses for that, this will just be a fun companionship type of opportunity.
