I hope you are well and thank you for being interested in volunteering with Liberty Hospice! I would love to tell you more! We are always looking for caring volunteers to visit our hospice patients. Our office covers the Sanford and Siler City areas. Some of our hospice patients live in a facility where staff is taking care of them and some live at home with their family taking care of them. All of our volunteers have to go through a training process that is online as well as a drug screen, background check and Covid screening. Once all this is clear and complete, I then match you with a hospice patient. We like the volunteers to visit their patient once a week so you really get to know them and they get to trust and know you as well! Volunteers do not provide any personal care like bathing but rather socialization and companionship by talking with them, doing life review, looking at photos or magazines, going outside for a breath of fresh air, doing crafts, or whatever the patient is capable of doing. Volunteers are also able to provide respite for our hospice families for short periods of time so they can have a break from their role of caregiver.
