Mission Statement

LEAD strives to ensure that students and parents across Connecticut have access to a system of effective schools and programs that are diverse, equitable and put students on a path to succeed in the college and career of their choice. LEAD will also provide educational opportunities, programs and resources to support a vibrant and well represented community throughout the state of Connecticut. LEAD’s mission is based on four pillars: Educational Options, Financial Literacy, Civic Engagement and Latin American History and Culture.

Description

We advocate for educational equity, and access to effective education options for all students throughout the state of Connecticut. These educational options include the expansion of effective Charter Schools, Vocational schools and Magnet Schools. LEAD is part of the national organization CivxNow and will provide civic education classes to our community leaders. In addition LEAD will conduct voter registration drives and get out the vote initiatives. LEAD will tailor our financial literacy programs to meet the needs of small business and individuals, in order to improve the condition of the latino community. Our Latin American History and Culture programs are available online and will also be taught through various workshops at our community center throughout the year. We create original content that explores the Latino contributions to the development of the United States.
