Description

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program or RSVP is a national volunteer program that is federally funded by AmeriCorps Seniors, which is administered by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS). The AmeriCorps Seniors project links the skills, talents, and expertise of volunteers aged 55 and over to community organizations that are working to meet the needs of the communities they serve. Since 1971, thousands of AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP volunteers have served at community organizations throughout the United States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.

Locally, since the start of AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP of Collier County in 1998, over 1,900 volunteers have contributed 1.5 million hours of service at 153 Volunteer Stations across Collier County. This equates to a savings of $38.2 million (independentsector.org) to our county because of the time and talents volunteers dedicate to making a difference in the following focus areas:

  • Disaster Services
  • Economic Opportunity
  • Education
  • Healthy Futures
  • Veterans and Military Families
