Casa Sierra aims to provide a new beginning to mistreated or neglected equines by re homing and re habilitating them and encourages appropriate treatment of equines by teaching children and young people, equine and animal care including how to connect with, trust, care for and look after them appropriately. Casa Sierra also teaches wellbeing techniques, Yoga and Meditation, to children and adults to encourage self care and a greater empathy to the world around us including all of our 4 legged friends. Casa Sierra strives to support single parents and women and children in vulnerable situations in the community, by providing free spaces on the programmes.
Casa Sierra is a registered not for profit organization in Spain: G04959458 and was founded by British born, Suzy Butler, in 2020.
Suzy is a qualified childrens Yoga teacher and has been riding since she was 5, rescuing horses since she was 12. She has a good understanding of the horse and their needs and a deep passion for them, so when she realised the conditions that many horses are being kept in, in Andaluscia, Spain, she knew she had to do something to encourage a better understanding of good practise and animal care.
Aside from re homing and rehabilitating equines, Casa Sierra runs an after school activity club teaching young people the importance of horses living in herds, appropriate care and connection. Her and her team also teach Yoga and Meditation and arts and crafts to children, encouraging them to breathe and re connect to the earth and world around them. As many schools are now discovering, children’s learning is enhanced when they are relaxed and focused and so have introduced well being classes in to their curriculum. Casa Sierra hopes to help more children and young people, learn this important life skill.
