Mission Statement

Top Hatters Squadron is a unit belonging to the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps. Since 1964, we have been serving the military and civilian community to build leaders of character.

Description

Naval Station Norfolk's sea cadet unit spends one weekend per month participating in military drill activities in order to provide experiences and education to the local you that they may not have elsewhere. Cadets arrive on a Friday night and depart on Sunday afternoon. Cadets learn everything from basic marching, military bearing and military history to sailing skills, cybersecurity, and small boat operations. Cadets have the opportunities to train in photojournalism, culinary arts, drone operations, leadership academies and more. All of these activities are led by a core group of volunteers nation wide that have a drive to educate and mentor driven youth that are determined to serve their communities. Our volunteers at Top Hatters work hard to prepare an environment of safe, fun, and challenging opportunities. Each month our volunteer team members arrive to deliver each cadet all of the best that the program has to offer.
