Mission Statement

GMS Vision Greenfield Middle School students thrive in a positive learning environment that blends Academics, Arts, and Athletics; GMS staff, parents, and community members work collaboratively to challenge and support Thunderbirds in their achievement, personal growth, and preparation for high school, college, and careers. GMS Mission Greenfield team members build positive, respectful relationships with students and offer rigorous learning experiences, inspiring students to further investigate and develop goals related to their interests and passions. Students create theme-based, cross-curricular projects for authentic audiences to demonstrate their mastery of Learning Intentions.

Description

Greenfield Middle School serves over 570 students in grades 6-8. Eighty-five percent of Greenfield students are socioeconomically disadvantaged, 31% are Engish learners and 67% are minorities. Our students include recent immigrants and refugees.

Our goals this year are:

1. All students will engage in a modern curriculum that will prepare them for the World of Work, based on their strengths, interests, and values.

2. All students, staff, and families feel safe, empowered, and respected.

3. All students will excel in reading writing, speaking, and mathematics.

To help meet goal #3, Greenfield middle school is implementing a new reading intervention program to help students in foundational reading skills.
