Mission Statement

In the Realm of Senses engages diverse artists and audiences in musical events that arouse the senses and stimulate the imagination. Through collaboration with a wide variety of visual and performing artists, along with artisans such as perfumers and chefs, we devise unique experiences that synthesize music with sensations of sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch. By amplifying the evocative power of the senses, we seek a more profound, more resonant response from artists and audiences alike. We desire to bring diverse groups together to discover, explore, and enjoy the arts in ways that inspire a deeper appreciation for our shared humanity.

Description

ITROS is a revolutionary organization in the arts that combines music with visual arts, gastronomy, perfumery, literature, theater, and dance to create a multi-sensory experience that is greater than the sum of its parts. We will change the way the arts are experienced and create a new understanding of what makes us human through our senses and the creative process.

ITROS started its first performances in 2018 in the Chicagoland area. Performances have been very successful thus far, bringing together different combinations of highly notable guest artists from all artistic mediums. After three years of testing the waters and adding over 1,000 followers to our mail list, Founder and Artistic Director Jeff Yang sought out and received 501c3 public charity status last year. COVID has somewhat hindered our movement forward, but we are now working to expand and build a donor base, focus on board development and begin to build capacity for the organization. Achievements thus far center around the performance art experience itself. Goals are first to expand multi-cultural, diverse and inclusive programming in local communities to build exposure and garner interest from prospective donors, and begin to build the resources for the organization so that we can apply for foundation/corporate support. Operational support will eventually allow for us to take these programs to younger audiences in local schools and youth-based organizations. Long-term goal would be to expand the scope of programs to include national and international artists.
