Founded in 2015 by veteran actors and educators Janeece Freeman Clark and Daryl Stewart, Vanguard Theater Company is a unique 501(c)(3) committed to changing the narrative through theater dedicated to DREAM: Diversity, Reciprocity, Education, Activism & Mentorship.

Vanguard Theater Company is a unique 501(c)(3) committed to changing the narrative through theater dedicated to DREAM: Diversity, Reciprocity, Education, Activism & Mentorship. Vanguard's year-round programming is made possible through generous support from TeeRico by Lin-Manuel Miranda, The New Jersey State Council on the Arts, Investors Bank; collaborations with Montclair Film and other community organizations, and the generosity of many individual donors.VTC is led by founding Artistic Director Janeece Freeman Clark, with Managing Director Jessica Sporn. The make-up of our Staff and Board reflects our mission of DREAM. We are predominately women led, and are 55% Black, Hispanic and Asian, and 45% white.
