Virtual Opportunity
Memory Bear Volunteers share their time and talents to transform the clothing of patients into keepsake teddy bears for our grieving families. Bears are sewn from gently worn items of the patient’s clothing such as a flannel shirt, nightgowns, sports shirt, or a favorite dress. The bears can help provide comfort, a sense of security and hold many special memories after the loss of a loved one. Volunteers must own and have experience with a sewing machine and be able to follow a teddy bear pattern. The fabric is provided by the family; the pattern and stuffing are provided by Caring Hospice and the creativity is provided by the volunteer. Bears are made in the volunteer’s home, delivered to our office in Mt. Laurel or pick up from the volunteer and delivered the loved ones by an interdisciplinary team member. Due to the sentimental nature of the fabric, items can not be sent in the mail. Please only apply if you live within 10 miles of Mt. Laurel, New Jersey.
