Mission Statement

Community advocacy, embracing and expanding a sense of community with the understanding that community is not a place on the map. It's how we treat one another. How we respect, value, validate and empower each person to engage and be their best.

Description

501(c)3 serving the residents of Calaveras County since the early 1980s. Since the beginning and for the next 38(+-) years, we administered a volunteer driver program. Our main efforts are to engage and empower all individuals to identify issues and work together toward solutions. Since 2000, we have worked with the community at large to develop a community volunteer campus. We partner with all interested parties - our local school district for land and buildings and the public for their ideas, passion, financial donations and a desire to make things happen. We began this building project 11 years ago in a weedy, unused field on the edge of our elementary school with the desire to provide a permanent centrally located facility from which our tri-county Gold Country Red Cross can meet, train, plan and respond to disasters. After moving 4 portable classrooms, upgrading as needed, Red Cross officially moved in with us on November 1, 2019.
As is always the case, our focus is on connecting volunteers with meaningful opportunities that fit their interests and enhance their lives!
When Community Comes Together, Magic Happens!
