Mission Statement
Rufty-Holmes Senior Center is a non-profit organization that provides a focal point for aging resources and opportunities to extend independent living and enrich the quality of life for Rowan County Older Adults.
Description
Rufty-Holmes Senior Center is a multi-purpose agency, serving those age 55 and older since 1988. RHSC is a designated community focal point for aging services in Rowan County, NC. The Center is Nationally accredited by the National Council on Aging and a Center of Excellence designated by NC DAAS.
RHSC serves over 4,000 Rowan County older adults yearly. Services are provided to meet the needs of this geographically diverse county of urban and rural and no one is turned away due to inability to pay for a program. The agency’s mission is to "Add Life to Years’ and create opportunities to assist area Older Adults to live healthy, happy and independent lives.
Outreach services include Transportation, Family Caregiver Support, Minor Home Repair, Medicare Insurance Counseling, IRS Tax Return Assistance, Daily Phone Calls, Lunch Club locations throughout the County for a hot lunch and socialization. Wellness is encouraged with fitness and water classes at the Center or with virtual classes. Leisure options include art classes, travel, music groups, lifelong learning and much more.
