Volunteering in India for Sambhali Trust provides the opportunity to work with an Indian-run organization in Rajasthan, India with great expertise in grassroots development and women’s empowerment. Sambhali U.S. provides information and orientation for potential volunteers at Sambhali Trust, but volunteers are chosen and supervised solely by Sambhali Trust. Most volunteer experiences involve working in a women's empowerment center, children's primary education center, boarding home, or in another project directly involving the girls or women of Sambhali. Some volunteers also are involved in administrative and communications work. Born with almost no control over how or with whom they live their lives, they are finding ways to leap over barriers based on class, caste, and gender through the programs of the grassroots Indian organization Sambhali Trust. Our development team is proud to know the difference each dollar raised will make and honored to tell the stories of the women and girls of Sambhali. Become an integral part of creating and implementing Sambhali U.S.’s annual development plan by: Creating proposals and stewardship pieces for current and potential donors Identifying and researching potential individual, foundation, and corporate donors Developing email and social media campaigns Grant writing Organizing stewardship events Volunteers will focus on one or more of the areas above depending upon experience and interest. We are seeking volunteers to help grow our team in the U.S. and to identify volunteers who would like to work directly with Sambhali Trust in India. Volunteers will conduct outreach to universities, nonprofit organizations, and other institutions; create materials for potential and current volunteers; organize volunteer orientation and engagement events; and use their creativity to develop new ways to recruit and engage volunteers. We welcome your creativity and passion to help American audiences understand the barriers of race, caste, and gender these women and girls face--and how they are finding ways to leap over those barriers through programs run by the grassroots Indian organization Sambhali Trust. You will be working virtually with other writers and editors around the country. Responsibilities: -Suggesting content for newsletters, blogs, email communications, and social media. -Completing writing projects, meeting deadlines, and following content requirements in terms of style and project specifications. -Conducting research on Rajasthan India. Skills: -Excellent writing and communications skills are important. -Knowledge of India and women's empowerment a plus but not required. -Understanding of search engine optimization best practices is helpful. -Passion for the mission of Sambhali U.S. is essential.
