Mission Statement
The Rape Crisis Center's Mission is to: Support child and adult survivors of sexual assault through counseling and advocacy. Empower survivors to regain control of their lives (by providing information and support so they can make their own decisions). Educate the community about sexual assault issues. Work towards the eradication of sexual violence and all forms of oppression.
Description
Every 68 seconds, an American is sexually assaulted. And every 9 minutes, that victim is a child. Meanwhile only 25 out of 1,000 perpetrators will end up in prison. (RAINN.org)
No one should have to face the trauma of rape alone. The Rape Crisis Center serving Contra Costa and Marin Counties needs volunteers. Volunteers are trained to staff the 24-hour crisis line and provide advocacy and accompaniment services to sexual assault victims. A 55+ hours training will begin on November 2, 2021. Bilingual volunteers are encouraged to apply. Call (510)237-0113 or leave a message at (510)754-4699.
