Mission Statement

To discover, observe and enjoy the wonders of our environment and to provide priceless education in order to foster awareness of our interaction with nature.

Description

Western Kentucky Botanical Garden was founded in 1993 by a group of master gardeners who wanted to start a botanical garden in Owensboro. Eight acres was donated to the city with the stipulation that it be used for a botanical garden. 28 years later, we now cover nearly 17 acres. We are a safe, quiet place to enjoy nature, and all it has to offer. There are many health benefits to being in nature, and volunteering and digging in the dirt, brings even more benefits. We hold an annual Daylily Festival that brings in people from all over the tri-state. We offer educational programs for both children and adults.
