Mission Statement

The mission of GWSTEM is to inspire young girls to pursue a career in STEM confidently. With the right tools, any girl can successfully approach their field of interest already prepared with an educational background. By approaching learning strategically, we can create a fun duality between academics and joy. We like to call this "joyous academics". Since, with its research-backed success, joyous academics acknowledges the importance of creating a safe and exciting environment for the retention of information in the long run. The more fun learning is, the more effective it is. This can hopefully lead to a heightening in the stakes of success of young girls in the fields of STEM!

Description

Girls who STEM is a non-profit/governmental organization developed with the purpose of giving girls the confidence to pursue STEM with initiative and knowledge. We are located remotely and work collectively via online means.

GWSTEM is currently on the lookout for volunteers who are willing to help develop a community where young girls thrive. This opportunity would allow them to develop a great understanding of their community as well as increase their awareness on common social issues, such as the gender gap that is so prevalent in STEM. Although, above all, volunteers will be able to have a drastic impact on the lives of young girls!

We are looking for help with various tasks, therefore, whatever a volunteer's main source of interest or time commitment is, it is likely needed here at GWSTEM! Whether it be fundraising, community outreach, or photography, we're on the lookout. Both male and female volunteers are welcome for this role.
