Mission Statement

Wood4Good was founded in 2019 by Eric Axelrod and his two young sons and recently received official non-profit status. Through volunteer efforts and local fundraising, this wood bank helps neighbors stay warm by providing seasoned firewood to families in need. With almost forty percent of Vermonters using wood as a heat source in their homes, Wood4Good can directly impact the lives of community members in need. As a volunteer run wood shelf, Wood4Good directly impacts neighbors in our community by providing those in need with seasoned firewood to help heat their homes. In the same way there are no need based requirements for utilizing a food shelf, residents of Chittenden County can submit requests for firewood assistance and will be granted delivery without question. Wood4Good and the Axelrod family believe strongly in the value of building community, giving back, and the joy that comes from working hard to help others.
