Mission Statement

Our name comes from the ancient Greek tradition of a lighted torch being passed from one runner to the next. Since then, passing the torch has become a symbolism of relinquishing knowledge and skill from an expert to another. Pass the Torch aims to utilize the academic and extracurricular talents of high school and college students to shape the next generation of artists, scholars, and leaders. Even though Pass the Torch was founded and is based in New York City, its influence and programs reach throughout multiple states and countries.

Description

Pass the Torch was founded in early 2020 to combat the problem of educational inequality that was heightened by the coronavirus pandemic. As of August 2021, we have given over 3000 lessons in academic and extracurricular subjects. We now offer a free SAT/ACT program as well as a Public Policy Essay Contest on top of our traditional free tutoring lessons. Pass the Torch is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, and we have been recognized by the state and federal governments. We were also featured in local and international media. Join our team today to make a difference that matters.
