Mission Statement

The San Marcos Promise builds dreams, pathways, and prosperity for the 21,000 students in San Marcos Unified School District (SMUSD). We provide programs, resources and opportunities that guide and support students on their educational journey beyond high school into the workforce. Our programs are designed to enhance the lives of students, families and communities in North San Diego County. We offer a promise of hope and opportunity for San Marcos/ youth and a long-term goal of reinforcing the culture of San Marcos as a well-equated, vibrant and prosperous community. While we target students in SMUSD, our programs are open to all students in North San Diego County.

Description

The San Marcos Promise supports the students in the San Marcos Unified School District. We are the bridge connecting education, business, and community leaders to impact student futures. It is our goal to help youth make informed decisions to successfully launch their future. We do this by helping students discover their strengths, interests and values-then aligning those with a practical career path. Simply put: We empower students with the resources and knowledge they need to build a satisfying career. Our goal is to make them self reliant navigators of their own futures. Naturally, a one-size-fits-all approach does not work. That's why we have a variety of programs like Learning Enrichment to Achieve Promise (LEAP) and our Future Centers that offer a variety of college and career-related services for students and families. They are designed to increase the number of students continuing their education after high school by assisting them in discovering their interests, exploring opportunities in various careers, and connecting them with resources, both on campus and in the community, necessary to pursue post-high school education. Future Center programs are open to all students in North San Diego County over summer (in addition to year-round for SMUSD students).
