Description
Lo's Jewels Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that was founded by Lonneka Tawio in 2017. She began the organization after the passing of her son, Engineman Fireman Recuit Akiree' M. Pointer, who died while serving the US Navy in 2017. She desired to channel all of her emotions into giving back to people in order to deal with her grief and pain. Helping others in any way she could gave her a sense of accomplishment and purpose, as Akiree' would have wanted her to do and feel. The organization has now grown to offer the following ministries:
- After School Empowerment
- Gardening and Agriculture
- Health and Fitness
- Food Drives
- Sound Engineering and job training
- Annual Akiree' Hero's Day Festival and Gala for military families
