Gotham Food Pantry, a food justice nonprofit, is seeking a passionate and dedicated Learning and Development Specialist to join our volunteer team. This role will support our Food Rescue Operation training initiaitve, specifically designed for residents of low-income public housing complexes in New York City. The aim is to empower community members with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively participate in and sustain local food rescue initiatives. Key Responsibilities: Program Development: Assist in design and develop engaging training programs and materials focused on food rescue operations, safety protocols, and sustainability practices. Training Delivery: Conduct interactive workshops and training sessions for community members, ensuring the content is accessible and relevant to the audience. Needs Assessment: Collaborate with community leaders and residents to identify specific learning needs and tailor training programs accordingly. Evaluation: Implement assessment tools to measure the effectiveness of training sessions and gather feedback for continuous improvement. Mentorship: Provide ongoing support and mentorship to community members, helping them to apply what they have learned and become leaders in the food rescue initiative. Collaboration: Work closely with Gotham Food Pantry staff and other volunteers to coordinate efforts and ensure the smooth running of training programs. Qualifications: Experience: Proven experience in learning and development, training, or education, particularly in a community-based or non-profit setting. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present information clearly and engagingly. Cultural Sensitivity: Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and an understanding of the challenges faced by low-income communities. Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Passion: A genuine passion for food justice, sustainability, and community empowerment.
