Mission Statement

The mission of The Campbell Course, Home of The Children’s Course/First Tee - Greater Portland is to provide all children; including underprivileged, at-risk, low-to-moderate income, and special needs youth, the opportunity to participate in educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.

Description

The Campbell Course/First Tee - Greater Portland believes in investing in quality education for our children-our participants learn so much more than the fundamentals of the golf swing or the game, they learn life skills that help prepare young people for success in high school, college and careers. At The Children’s Course we use The First Tee Life Skills curriculum which was created by child development experts and is delivered by trained coaches to help participants apply the life skills and values of golf to succeed in everyday life. As part of the program, youth benefit from the Nine Core Values (honesty, integrity, perseverance, sportsmanship, courtesy, confidence, respect, responsibility and judgment) as well as the Nine Healthy Habits (energy, play, safety, vision, mind, family, friends, school, and community).

Working with over 100 partners in the Portland Metro area we are able to provide a 1:1 mentoring program, numerous volunteer opportunities, exposure to The First Tee Nationals School Program in addition to all our camps and classes at our 7 programming locations. The majority of our programs are offered for free or at a greatly reduced rate to families.
