Mission Statement

The mission of the Shared Parenting Council of Connecticut (SPC) is to promote equal-time shared parenting as the starting point for negotiation in custody disputes between two fit parents, based on strong evidence that this is in the best interest of children. We advocate for judicial reform, legislative revision, and engage in public education.

Description

The SPC is a group of professionals (college professors, doctors and entrepreneurs) working to promote the welfare of children living in separated households.

In 2021 and beyond, the SPC is participating in a major reform of Connecticut’s Family Court system called Triage & Pathways Initiative. This Initiative balances parent’s rights and promotes conflict resolution. SPC is a primary stakeholder with the right to participate in all deliberations concerning the Initiative.

The SPC sponsors an annual symposium for legislators and the public providing education related to co-parenting and parallel parenting. In 2021 it featured participation by numerous legislators and over 50 others. In 2022 it provided expert advice on domestic violence and parental alienation.
