Mission Statement

Matthew 25 empowers people to transform neighborhoods. We envision a thriving, connected community where people are valued and talents are multiplied; where neighborhood families have access to safe, affordable housing and healthy food; and where youth are empowered through reading and the creative arts. Our core values include: *Positive relationships are the building blocks for community. *Faith requires action. *We must build a sustainable, inclusive future. *Crossing boundaries and building bridges among diverse groups strengthens all. *Healthy communities focus on empowerment. *Effective mentoring and teaching changes lives.

We have many programs around the issues of food, housing and education, some of which include Iowa's first Urban Farm and Education Center, which provides food through markets, food pantries, and our pay-it-forward cafe where people can get a free meal. We have a nonprofit grocery store we are constructing that will add to our vision of healthy food security. Matthew 25 provides home repairs for those in need, pathways to affordable housing, and is deeply involved in derecho storm recovery efforts. We are passionate about education and have programs in schools as well as on our farm. Whatever we do, our focus is rooted in our values and mission as an organization. We would love to have join us in our efforts!
