Description

Catherine Chase is an assistant professor of Cognitive Science in Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. She studies how K-16 students learn STEM content while engaging in production activities like inventing representations of scientific phenomena or designing an engineering product. Specifically, she explores how various forms of instructional support enhance or hinder motivation, learning, and transfer from production activities. Chase has also designed and developed several STEM learning technologies such as digital games and intelligent tutoring systems.
