Shuttle Driver for Amish blood drives

Versiti Blood Center of Indiana and the Amish community outside of Fort Wayne partner to host large blood drives. Because many in the Amish community do not have vehicles or transportation that provide easy access to blood drives, they have used local drivers in the past to transport donors to/from the drives. Because of the increase in blood drive locations and frequency, we are seeking volunteer shuttle drivers to help keep this endeavor going. This vital volunteer role would be responsible for transporting the majority of donors to participate in the community blood drives. We host blood drives every 2 weeks, on a rotating basis. They are divided into 4 areas: Southwest, Northeast, Harlan and Grabill. You would be driving your own personal vehicle TO the site, then utilize a Versiti vehicle to transport donors. In order to volunteer for this position, you must complete an online application through Versiti which includes a motor vehicle check, background check and drug screen. WE DO NOT ACCEPT COURT-ORDERED SERVICE REQUESTS.

Greeter/Cafe volunteer for donor center and community blood drives

Versiti Blood Center of Indiana is seeking individuals to join our volunteer team, who want to make a lifesaving impact in their community and beyond. Specifically, we are seeking Greeter/Café helpers at our Greenwood, Downtown Indianapolis, Carmel and Fishers Donor Centers AND our community blood drives. Our program requires one 4-hour shift per month, but hours are flexible. Are you Driven to Save Lives? Deliver urgently needed blood to hospitals!

A Volunteer Blood Delivery Driver handles the transport of URGENT, lifesaving blood and/or blood products to hospitals. As a volunteer, you play a major role in helping to achieve our mission of saving lives and maintaining our organization’s commitment to excellent customer service. The duties of a Blood Delivery Driver are to verify orders and the transportation of needed blood to community hospital labs. Volunteer Drivers are needed every week, Sunday through Saturday. Time ranges could vary based on volunteer availability and Versiti needs, however most shifts are between 4 or 5 hours long. Volunteer Drivers are available on site at our downtown Indianapolis Donor Center during their volunteer shift. This ensures that urgently needed STAT orders can be on the road minutes after a hospital places an order, helping to decrease patient wait time. Our Drivers are driven to save lives. Requirements for this role are that Volunteer Drivers must be 21 years of age or older, complete Versiti orientation and training, provide proof of valid driver’s license and successfully complete a drug screen as well as driving and criminal background checks. Volunteers will be provided with a Versiti vehicle, GPS, and dispatch phone during each shift. Volunteers will not directly handle blood or blood products.
