Description

The Bowen After School Care Program (BASCP) is a private, non‑profit, parent cooperative operating since September 1974 in the Bowen School. The Philosophy of the Program is that each individual has unique needs and strengths. We will work toward the development of the whole child (social, emotional, physical, and cognitive). We believe that by providing a structured program that offers choices, children will have the opportunity to develop decision making skills and foster a sense of independence. Along with this independence and decision making comes responsibility. Teachers are there to guide the children through their choices and decisions and assist them in directing their energies in positive directions. Children need to feel they are important beings as individuals and as part of a community. In order to grow into caring and concerned adults, it is important that values are developed that:

‑ promote social consciousness,

‑ respect for ourselves, peers, adults, and our physical surroundings,

‑ realize that we all have a purpose and are unique and valuable,

‑ be responsive and responsible parts of the community (family, school, town, etc.).
