The Temple Grandin Equine Center will celebrate and elevate the role of the horse in society through the physical and emotional benefits of serving those in need. ... TGEC will work for the betterment of horses and humans alike.
The Temple Grandin Equine Center located at the National Western Complex in Denver provides Equine Assisted Services (Physical and Occupational Therapy, Therapeutic Riding and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy). We serve ages 18 months to 99 years old with many diagnoses such as Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Multiple Sclerosis, and Genetic Anomalies just to name a few. We rely heavily on volunteers that work closely with our therapists to help provide a safe appointment while working with our horses.
For now, we are in a temporary facility while we await the opening of our new state-of-the-art facility January of 2022. Currently, we have 6 horses and host approximately 20-25 appointments a week. When we move into our new facility, we anticipate hosting 125 + a week and will be increasing our herd to 13, including Quarter horses, Haflingers, ponies and Draft horses! This is a perfect time to join our volunteer team!
This is a fun, fulfilling activity that can qualify for student volunteer hours, church volunteer groups or a happy, fulfilling retirement.
We would like to invite you to participate in a volunteer orientation. We host orientations every other Friday from noon-2:00 at 4980 Brighton Blvd. Denver, 80216. Our next orientation is Aug. 20, please RSVP to Debbie.Mogor@colostate.edu
