Mission Statement
The goal of the Helping Orphans Pursue Education (HOPE) Project is to ensure that no orphan or vulnerable child in Mombasa, Kenya is deprived of a basic education. We strive to provide the best chance of success in life for each child. An education and the prospect of a career provides children with a path to self-reliance and the opportunity to succeed in life. We provide our children the opportunity to learn, grow and mature in a healthy and safe environment. These children might otherwise be living on the streets where they are vulnerable to exploitation, radicalization, gangs, drugs and disease.
Description
The HOPE (Helping Orphans Pursue Education) Project provides educational assistance to orphans and vulnerable children - many of whom have been infected or affected by HIV/AIDS. HOPE provides these children with access to an education and the prospect of a career. Our goal is to use education as a means to enable the children we serve to overcome poverty and create a better life for themselves and their families.
HOPE pays for school fees, uniforms, books and other supplies as well as transportation, meals and in special cases, boarding and medical care. We run tutorial sessions, workshops and other activities for our students; proactively monitor each child’s progress in school and at home; and provide counselling as needed.
HOPE provides a healthy and safe environment for children to learn, grow and mature. Without HOPE, many of these children would be out on the streets where they are vulnerable to exploitation, radicalization, gangs, drugs and disease. An education and the prospect of a career provides children with a path to self-reliance and the opportunity to succeed in life.
