The Buchanan YMCA's vision is to be known as a community asset, recognized for quality programs that are responsive to our diverse community needs. We offer free or low cost after school programs at seven sites across the Western Addition community.

Description

The Western Addition Beacon Center is one of seven community based programs offered through the Buchanan YMCA. We are located inside John Muir Elementary School and work diligently to support achievement goals for students and their family. There are a variety of volunteer opportunities available at our site, however, our most pressing need is during the academic hour of the after school program. During this time students work to complete homework assignments, improve literacy and develop skills. Volunteers would work with students one on one to achieve the tasks of the day.
