Mission Statement
OCA Greater Cleveland - Asian Pacific American Advocates is a membership-driven, organization of community advocates dedicated to advancing the social, political, and economic well-being of Asian Pacific Americans.
Description
OCA Greater Cleveland serves the AAPI community of Northeast Ohio to promote cultural heritage, active participation in civic and community affairs, securing justice, equal treatment, and equal opportunity.
The local chapter was founded in 1983 as the OCA Northeast Ohio (OCA-NEO) chapter but merged with the Chinese Americans of Greater Cleveland (CAGC) in 1995 to form the Organization of Chinese Americans of Greater Cleveland (OCAGC) and in 2013 OCA was rebranded as the OCA - Asian Pacific American Advocates and our chapter OCA - Greater Cleveland Asian Pacific American Advocates or simply OCA Greater Cleveland (OCAGC) to be more inclusive and representative of those we serve.
To fulfill its mission, OCA has established the following goals: * to advocate for social justice, equal opportunity, and fair treatment; * to promote civic participation, education, and leadership; * to advance coalitions and community building; and to foster cultural heritage.
