Mission Statement

International Medical Relief provides access to sustainable community and public health education and medical services to underserved and vulnerable communities across the globe that will improve the health, wellness, and quality of life of those populations most in need.

Description

International Medical Relief (IMR) was founded in 2002 on the belief that knowledge of basic health facts and access to healthcare should be shared by as many people as possible. We partner with local medical and dental professionals to share knowledge about diagnoses and treatment. IMR provides free medical and dental care services, treatment and diagnosis, and medicines, caring for entire communities. IMR provides basic health education. Our global education programs build a better and more sustainable response towards the communities we serve. IMR builds a better and more sustainable response through training and partnerships with several health modules. We strengthen global health capacities through classes conducted by certified trainers on a variety of medical topics. Our Disaster Area Response Teams put their compassion into action by helping survivors impacted by disasters around the world. On average, our teams hit the ground within the first week of a disaster.

Over the last 2 months I had the opportunity to volunteer with IMR for the Denver COVID-19 relief project! It was a truly eye opening and life changing experience that I would recommend to anyone! I am a student who hopes to work in the medical field, so I was very excited to have the opportunity to volunteer at the State Capitol providing COVID screenings, and at a homeless shelter, helping provide 24/7 medical care. I got to practice patient-care skills and work closely with medical professionals to learn and grow, professionally and personally. Every day IMR volunteers and staff would show up with so much energy and passion. And when the work was tough, I was supported by the entire IMR team. Every day I could see how IMR was having a positive impact on people's lives. I am so thankful for my experience with IMR, and I feel like I'm leaving with a 2nd family!
